Hot summer nights

August is definitely the hottest month of the Italian summer – not only temperature wise but also socially!

Hot summer days are for spending at the beach, and the warm summer nights are for socialising with friends. The Amalfi Coast put on an impressive list of events throughout the Coastal towns during the months of July, August and September. But of course the month of August is jam-packed with parties, festas and disos to attend. Due to Ferragosto on the 15th August, there are parties everywhere along the Coast to celebrate this public holiday.

Not into dancing the night away at a beach party? Then you can do as the Italians do and embrace the passegiata (to stroll/walk) and stroll the beach-side promenades into the early hours of the morning. It is common in summer to see children, couples, families (including the Nonnas!) enjoying the cooler nights by strolling along the promenades. Naturally the Amalfi Coast is just as spectacular by night as it is by day.

Whilst most people tend to avoid holidaying in August in Italy, if you are wanting more fun, nightlife and a great summer vibe then August is THE time to visit. The beaches are packed, the bars are full and the piazzas are filled with locals and tourists – everyone is out celebrating summer the entire month!
